What is assurance?

Assurance, as provided by the Carbon Trust, is the provision of an independent third-party endorsement of environmental data or of an environmental claim made by an organisation. Assurance includes certification, verification, validation, peer-review and opinion issuing activities.

Why do we provide assurance?

We provide assurance services in order to recognise real achievements in sustainability, enhance reputation and build trust with customers, investors and stakeholders. Assurance can provide confidence to our clients on the actions that they are taking on their sustainability journeys, or demonstrate to the client's stakeholders that their environmental claims are valid and hold up to scrutiny.
